A descendant of Native American heritage and raised in a family of artists in Portland, Oregon, Gary draws on the influence of the Pacific Northwest’s rich artistic traditions.
Guided by what she calls the "heart mind," Gary embraces imperfection in her process, allowing each form to remain instinctive and raw. Her sculptures invite contemplation of the dualities we encounter: light and shadow, presence and absence, spirit and matter. She encourages viewers to reflect on how their perception shapes meaning and experience. The Messengers draws on the symbolism of birds as bearers of higher consciousness, bridging earth and sky. Through quiet observation, Gary listens to their messages and invites us to do the same.
