Upward is indicative of his expressive and abstract style that reconciles natural form and industrial materials. He has stated: “It is my intention to develop the kind of forms Nature might create if only heat and steel were available to her.” For much of his career, Hunt utilized found scrap metal to combine and transform through intensely physical feats of cutting, plating, burning, and beating the forms into sweeping, organic shapes. His works can be found in over 150 public art spaces and museum collections nationally.
