Today, the Savannah resident is widely recognized for his signature mixed-media pieces composed largely of found and appropriated materials, from old photographs to crumbling walls. A Letter to Addie Reeves brings together newspaper and magazine cutouts, generating a collage of words and colors bearing a vague resemblance to the American flag. This work, which includes photocopies of Addie Reeves’ phone book, is an homage to her assemblage, and the artists’ shared impulse to create and embellish ordinary objects.
