The design of the foot posts is similar to designs in one of Hepplewhite's furniture pattern books. The carving is crisp and refined. The tapering front posts, headboard, side and foot rails are very crude and made of heavily grained English oak. The canopy frame of fir or pine is also plain and appears to be original. The posts all have casters. The bed has an accompanying c.1930 custom mattress and box springs.
