Feeling the pencil indentations in the paper, Jordan was able to determine where to place his color ̶ a technique he taught others. Jordan draws scenes from his memory, noting that his blindness actually helped him to remember his travels: “I am recovering scenes from my subconscious which, when I had sight, I scarcely noticed.” Jordan's work has been shown at Telfair in 1997 in a one-person exhibition titled Blind Vision: The Art of Captain William E. Jordan.
