He kept two of the sets for his family, presented one set to his younger brother George Savage (1835–1897), and the last set, of which this piece is included, was shared amongst his sisters Mary (1819–1903), Sarah (1828–1900), and Margaret (1829–1915) which descended through their families before being donated to the museum.
