In addition to incorporating more mechanization into her firm's processes, Bateman also paid close attention to changes in taste. The urn or helmet-shaped form of this cream pot, and the engraved swags of floral garlands around the body, reflect the prevailing taste for designs inspired by ancient Greece and Rome. Text written for the exhibition 'Lingua Flora,' on view from June 21–September 8, 2024.
