While the Nourmahal may have never entered the Savannah harbor, Golding locates the vessel on the Georgia coast by the inclusion of the Sapelo Island lighthouse. A small vessel labelled “W.T.O.C.” in the foreground may refer Savannah’s first radio station which went on the air in 1929, just a few years before this work was made.
