He was only active in the city a short time, working out of a business on Broughton Street from 1786 to 1788. He frequently advertised happenings at his business and in his personal life in local newspapers, including the arrival of his “workmen from New York,” his marriage to “Miss Betsy Turner,” the loss of his horse, and his sale of five enslaved laborers.
