The ninth plate features a white rim with three clusters of white flowers with long green leaves alternating with a sun. In the center of the plate is a painted with a scene of game birds on a hillside dotted with trees.

The center of this plate exemplifies naturalism, since it represents the pheasants and their landscape in detail. However, the sweet peas surrounding the rim are conventionalized, or shown with fewer details, flat, and with strong outlines. Many champions of this style took inspiration from Japanese woodblock prints, as also seen in the sweet pea vines' whiplash curves.
