Striving for perfection as he navigates his ideas about glass, light, architecture, technology, and life, Kuhn creates perfected assemblages of cold glass. The reflected and refracted light generated by the fused glass elements creates a rigid geometric, but geode-like, formation that allows the viewer to peer beyond the surface of the work. Jon Kuhn received his B.F.A. at Washburn University in Kansas and his M.F.A. at Virginia Commonwealth University. He has created glass sculpture as an independent artist since 1978 in North Carolina. His work is represented in public and private collections throughout the world.
Originally one of a pair, a blue-flashed glass decanter cut to clear with a design of circles.
