The base is hollow for holding charcoal, and there is a spout and a small hole for ventilation which has an iron cover that features the face of a bearded man. This iron was heated by filling the bottom with charcoal and lighting it with a capful of kerosene. There is a 'chimney' to keep the smoke smell rising away from the cloth.
