John Folsom complicates the atmospheric beauty of the Lowcountry landscape by incorporating a grid structure within the image. Created by digitally altering a photograph he has taken, cutting it into a grid, reassembling the work and painting on top with oils and wax, Folsom ultimately calls attention to the manmade constructions and interventions within the natural world.
