In the 1930s she studied with noted artists Lamar Dodd at the University of Georgia and Henry Lee McFee of the Woodstock, New York artists colony, as well as fellow Savannahian Emma Cheves Wilkins. By simultaneously experimenting with realism and abstraction and exploring diverse subject matter, Oelschig developed a distinctive new artistic voice in which to celebrate the landscape and people of her native Lowcountry.Subject MatterSavannah, Georgia, United States of America
