Silversmith David B. Nichols was born 1791 in New Haven, CT, and worked as a silversmith, jeweller, watch maker and retailer in Savannah, Georgia in 1815-39 and 1843-55. In March 1825 Lafayette medallions and watch, waist, and ribbon badges were offered for sale, all “suitable for the ball” held in honor of the visit of Lafayette to Savannah.
