Eliot Candee ClarkAmerican, 1883 - 1980

Eliot Clark came to Savannah in the winters of 1924 and 1925 as the Savannah Art Club’s visiting artist. Clark considered his work in Savannah as some of his finest creations. Clark received little formal training, although he studied with his father Walter Clark, a landscape painter, and briefly with painter John Henry Twachtman. Clark taught at the Art Students League and was active in many art organizations, serving as president of the National Academy of Design, the American Water Color Society, and Allied Artists of America.
