Ernest-Joseph-Angelon Girard

Born in Paris, he became the pupil of Isabey and Isabey's friend, the miniaturist J.F. Hollier. He exhibited portrait miniatures at the Salon between 1837 and 1864 in which year he was a miniature painter to the Spanish Royal family. Thereafter the demand for his miniatures declined with the advance of photography, and between 1864 and 1880 he mainly exhibited watercolours.
