Georg SauterGerman, 1866 - 1937

George Sauter was born in Rettenbach, Germany and studied art in Munich. During the 1890s and early 1900s he lived in London and developed a career as a portrait painter. During this period he also traveled in Holland, Belgium, France, and Italy. In 1915, Sauter returned to Germany.

Member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, National Portrait Society, and of the international Society of Sculptors, Painters and Gravers, London; Royal Society of Fine Arts, Brussels. Corresponding member of the Secession Society, Munich; Secession Society, Berlin; Secession Society, Vienna. Represented in the New Pinakothek, Munich; Modern Museum of Painting, Brussels.
