Margaret Gray ThomasAmerican, 1871 - 1951

Margaret “Meta” Gray Thomas bequeathed her home, the Owens-Thomas House, to the Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences (now Telfair Museums) in 1951. She also left a large number of furniture and decorative arts to the museum, as well as objects she created, including pastels of camellias and a set of painted china. Thomas was a charter member of the Savannah Art Club, and a member of the Trustees Garden Club and of The National Society of The Colonial Dames in the State of Georgia. [Cyndi Sommers, Asst.
