Dennis Connors, Curator of History, Onondaga Historical Association, 10.19.07: "Elliott was the son of Daniel Elliott. The painter was born in Scipio, NY but moved with his family to Syracuse while still a boy. His father was more properly an "architect/builder" as opposed to exclusively an architect. Charles Loring Elliott left Syracuse in 1834, not Scipio, to pursue painting in New York City."
