After discovering photography while serving in the United States Air Force during the 1950s, Philip Perkis went on to produce works of haunting beauty noted for their openness and interest in light. Perkis remains faithful to traditional techniques ̶ using a Leica camera, shooting horizontally, and producing black and white prints.
Philip Perkis is Professor Emeritus at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. He is author of Teaching Photography, Notes Assembled (2001).
