Perkis remains faithful to traditional techniques ̶ using a Leica camera, shooting horizontally, and producing black and white prints. This photograph shows a fire-ravaged forest in Labrador, a northern region in Canada. Philip Perkis is Professor Emeritus at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. He is author of Teaching Photography, Notes Assembled (2001).
