The painting depicts the 1996 commercial development of the Savannah Mall, overlaid with a small image of a lush forest in the shape and size of a Polaroid photograph. This work was formulated to raise questions of environmental sustainability in response to a satellite survey that revealed Savannah’s southside had suffered massive tree loss in less than a decade.
