Following a tradition that began with medeival herbariums that documented medicinal plants, natural historians often accompanied their texts describing flowers and plants with actual samples pasted in books or detailed illustrations of them. This method of depiction made its way onto a variety of materials, from textiles to ceramics. Text written for 'Lingua Flora,' on view from June 21–September 8, 2024.
