Label TextSusannah Cunningham Wylly (1788-1829) was the daughter of Alexander Campbell Wylly (1760-1833) and Margaret Armstrong (1769-1850). Her father was born in Savannah, her mother in Florida. Susannah was born in Nassau, Bahamas, where the family fled after the Revolutionary War. The family oral history relates that Susannah was sent to school in Boston in 1802, at age 14. Later, the family lived on St. Simons Island, GA. where, in the 1820 census, there were 10 family members and 46 enslaved laborers on their household site.
