Created with assembled, cold glass elements and other mixed media components, the Glass House incorporates stories of Savannah and Telfair Museums, referencing the museum’s newest building, as well as the city’s important architectural landscape. Statom created this site-specific structure in 2006 for the interactive galleries at Telfair Museum’s Jepson Center. Piecing together assembled glass modules allows Statom the flexibility to create both large and small works. Statom studied at Pilchuck Glass School and with Dale Chihuly at the Rhode Island School of Design where he received his B.F.A. He received his M.F.A. at Pratt Institute of Art and Design, New Yok. Statom has taught extensively throughout the United States and his work is held in many private and public collections.
