Nichols (1791-1860) worked in Savannah, Georgia from 1815 to 1839 and again from 1843 to 1855. He formed a brief partnership with John P. Smith in 1820 as D.B. Nichols & Co. but continued as D.B. Nichols & Co. until 1830. Silver firms like Nichols' incorporated floral designs on their products in a variety of ways.
