The olive green with metallic gold thread and brown circular floral designs are influenced from Chinese textiles and the repeat design of wave pattern is influenced from Japonisme style available to the west after the 1850s. The textile also has a San Fransisco stamp that indicates that this was a commercial fabric imported either from China or Japan."
In the 19th and early 20th centuries, American and European museums’ collections included examples of textiles representing the woven history of many different global cultures. The Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences [now Telfair Museums] received collections of textiles from various well-traveled Savannahians.
