A Victorian sterling silver teapot with a finely engraved cartouche depicting a heraldic cross, and fine beaded border on the top and bottom of the piece. Topping the teapot is a carved ivory pineapple finial.

Topping the teapot is a carved ivory pineapple finial. The interiors of the cream pitcher and sugar bowl are gilt. London silversmith Samuel Smily (1825-1882) became the manager of A.B. Savory & Sons in 1865, succeeding his father William. Savory & Sons became Goldsmiths Alliance Ltd. in 1866. Smily registered his own mark in 1865 and used it until his retirement in 1880.
