For the 'WYA: The Show About the Party You Missed' exhibition, Allan was inspired by street art and the mediated realities created by platforms like Instagram. For Penny, this exhibition was an opportunity to make works that blended sculptural, digital, and painterly spaces, a multimedia approach the artist has continued to utilize. This site-specific piece, a flashing sign visible from the outside of the building at the Jepson’s northeast corner (on York and Barnard streets), extended the exhibition beyond the traditional confines of gallery walls. The adjacent statement, written by Cameron Allen, was used as the exhibition’s introductory text. Text written for 'CONVERGENCE' on view March 11, 2022 - March 19, 2023.
