Haskell’s disembodied face appears, vision-like, on the brighter side of the painting, suggesting the positive influence she has had on her protégé’s life and career. Gibran utilized oil paints for a six-year period of his career; however, most of his oeuvre consists of works in pencil, charcoal, and watercolor.
