The other, Reflections (Marcelle) is also on view in this exhibition. Melchers was particularly proud to have negotiated this purchase for the museum, writing, “I have succeeded today, after much persuasion, to buy the finest nude painted anywhere in the last years, by Caro-Delvaille, a three-quarter length which was shown at the Salon three or four years ago, price 6,000 francs. He simply did not want to part with it, and only today at a luncheon party did he give in.”
